Where do they go now?

I'm old enough to have seen "the end of the world" come and go several times already. This time I also recognized a few persons that have been convinced of "the end of the world" before and now believed in it again. More often, the people who realize that they were wrong sort of "disappear". I wonder where the go, what they think and how they feel. Especially those who thought we would all die on a certain date. We're still here, they're still here... what now?

A study showed that 10% of the population believed that 21 December 2012 would either be the end of the world or a significant change of the world. 10%! OK, not all of them thought the worst and some thought it possible rather than thinking it was an absolute truth, but it's still a very high number.
