It's like that, I think, rebirth is seen as a metamorphosis into something new and better but every now and then the process is corrupted and twisted into something foul and vile instead. Loving turns into loathing, passion into repulsion and care into neglect. The growing pains defiles the process and the rebirth changes a life worth living to a life of pain and sorrow.
